LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.82 g, 1 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace; before, [ΔAI]. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to right; to right above leaf, plow; below, M[AX]. HN Italy 1581. Johnston Class C, 1. Beautifully toned and well centered, with a lovely head of Demeter. Small graffito on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
